The Future of Environmental Education in Birmingham – Bringing it all together.

Are you interested in the future of outdoor education in this current climate of financial cutbacks and Climate change?

Do you want to ensure that the children you work with still have access to education in the environment? We do too.

The Forest Education Initiative (FEI) aims to increase the understanding and appreciation, particularly among young people, of the environmental, social, and economic potential of trees, woodlands and forests and of the link between the tree and everyday wood products.
Birmingham Ranger Service are hosting the:

10.00am – 1.30pm (with extension into the afternoon for more outdoor fun)
at Lickey Hills Country Park, Visitor Centre, Warren Lane, Rednal, Birmingham B45 8ER.

The conference is for all Outdoor Education professionals and service users.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The aim is to give voice to people passionate about Outdoor and Environmental Education – this includes Forest School, Field studies and outdoor pursuits etc.

We aim to look at strategies for promoting Outdoor Education, how we can sustain this type of education and what new initiatives are taking place. It is hoped that from this event we can form a stronger net work of people who will pull together to promote this issue and provide an invaluable resource for skill sharing opportunities.

With guest speakers from the National Association for Environmental Education, workshops plus hands on demonstrations the day should prove to be inspiring and informative.

Light refreshments will be provided. The visitor centre has a Café or you can bring your own lunch if you wish to stay on longer with us and join the Rangers for a guided walk in the afternoon.

TO BOOK A PLACE CONTACT Jo on jwebb@locienv.co.uk or 01299 841 356.

Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment, the registration fee of £5 per person is required to cover the cost of this event. Concessions for volunteers available.

Do you have any special requirements, please inform us and we shall do our best to accommodate your needs.

Jan Tomlinson, Birmingham FEI Chair & Ranger for Hall Green and Selly Oak Ranger Service

*Please note the conference is held at an outdoor visitor centre and strong walking boots and suitable outdoor clothing is strongly recommended.
